High School Equivalency

Patterson Adult School currently offers the High School Equivalency Preparation Program in Spanish ONLY for the 2026-2027 school year. English-language preparation classes are not available at this time.

 

Are you ready to earn your High School Equivalency Certificate? Our HiSET Preparation Program is designed to help adult learners build the skills and confidence needed to successfully pass the official high school equivalency exams and take the next step toward college, career advancement, or personal achievement.

About the Program

Our HiSET Preparation classes are taught live by an experienced instructor using comprehensive HiSET Test Preparation materials.

  • Students receive direct instruction in a supportive classroom environment.
  • Lessons focus on the skills needed to successfully pass the official HiSET exam. 
  • Instructors provide guidance, review practice questions, and help students build confidence in each subject area.
  • Students progress at a pace that prepares them for testing success.

Class Schedule:
Monday & Wednesday
 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM

Graduation Requirements

Students receive instruction in the four core subject areas:

  • Language Arts (Reading & Writing)

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Social Studies

Practice assessments help determine when students are ready for the official exam. To earn a California High School Equivalency Certificate through the HiSET, students must pass all four subject exams with a minimum score of 8 on each test.

Please note: Patterson Adult School prepares students using the HiSET curriculum. While students may choose to take either the HiSET or GED exam, classroom instruction and preparation materials are aligned with the HiSET exam.

Admission Requirements

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • You must complete an academic assessment during the enrollment process.
  • You must meet with an academic counselor to determine the best pathway toward earning your High School Equivalency Certificate.
